Afterglyph

A/01About the studio

WE ARE NOT HERE TO MAKE MORE OF THE SAME.

Afterglyph is a studio of designers, engineers and creative technologists who believe the web is still the most exciting canvas there is, and that it deserves better than the same five layouts.

DESIGN WITH A POINT OF VIEW . DESIGN WITH A POINT OF VIEW .

ENGINEERING WITH STANDARDS . ENGINEERING WITH STANDARDS .

MOTION WITH A MOTIVE . MOTION WITH A MOTIVE .

01Origin

Named for what lingers after the screen goes dark.

An afterglyph is our word for the shape a great experience leaves behind: the interaction you remember on the bus home, the transition you show a colleague, the product that just made sense.

We started as a small group of designers who code and engineers who care about type. That mix is still the point. Nobody here throws work over a wall, because there is no wall.

02Philosophy

Philosophy

We believe ambition and usability are not opposites. The most striking sites we build are also the fastest, the most accessible and the easiest for their teams to run.

03Values

Four ruleswe keep.

01

Make it unmistakable

If it could belong to anyone, it is not finished.

02

Motion with a motive

Every movement explains, guides or rewards. Nothing moves to fill time.

03

Craft is a performance metric

Speed, accessibility and polish are designed, not bolted on.

04

Say the true thing

Honest estimates, honest feedback, honest numbers.

04Team

The peoplebehind the pixels.

Placeholder profiles by role. Add real names and portraits before launch.

  • Creative Director Sets the visual language and protects the idea.
  • Technical Director Owns architecture, budgets and the final say on performance.
  • Lead Motion Designer Decides how everything enters, leaves and responds.
  • Creative Developer Turns sketches into shaders, scenes and systems.
  • Product Designer Maps journeys and makes complex things feel simple.
  • Producer Keeps ambitious projects calm, clear and on time.

05Creative culture

How the studio stays curious.

Lab Fridays

Every other Friday afternoon is for experiments with no client and no brief.

Crits, not approvals

Work is reviewed by the whole team, early and often, with kindness and candour.

Learning budget

Courses, books, conferences and hardware for whatever you are trying to master.

Shared tools

What one project invents becomes a studio tool for the next.

Sane hours

Great work comes from rested people. We plan for it.

06Working methodology

Small senior teams. Weekly proof. No black boxes.

  1. Senior by default

The people you meet in the pitch are the people who do the work.

  2. Prototype first

Ideas are judged in the browser, not in slide decks.

  3. Shipping every week

A working build you can click, every week, from week two.

  4. Open books

Shared boards, shared budgets, shared repositories.
